Roadways supplies high-quality EcoSub cement-bound Type 4 road planings for builders, groundworkers and private customers who need a practical, cost-effective alternative to traditional loose aggregates. This highly versatile material is designed as a direct replacement for Type 4 road planings, Type 1 or 6F5 in the lower layers of construction projects.

EcoSub is a high-performance sub-base aggregate produced from recycled road planings graded from 0–40mm and blended uniformly with approximately 3% cement. Once laid and properly compacted, the cement activates to bind the material together as it cures.

This process forms a stable, solid foundation that resists rutting and ground movement significantly better than loose stone or standalone aggregate chippings, saving money on ongoing re-grading and structural stone top-ups.

Product specifications and benefits:

• Composition: Carefully graded 0–40mm recycled Type 4 road planings blended uniformly with approximately 3% cement or other binding materials, depending on the intended use and required performance level.
• Performance: Structural binding locks the material securely in place, delivering a longer-lasting foundation with far less movement than loose stone.

Laying and compaction guide:

• The laying method is equivalent to a Type 1 application.
• The material must be spread, levelled and fully compacted within two hours of delivery to allow the cement binder to cure correctly.
• It can be laid using standard hand and rake methods or distributed mechanically using an asphalt paver.
• It can be consolidated using a site digger bucket, heavy rollers or vibrating compaction plates.

Collection:

• Collection or self-lay use must be agreed technically in advance.
• Please order large quantities in advance to ensure the required grade and volume are available.
• The minimum order for collection or delivery is two loads, approximately 40 tonnes.
• Prices start from £10.00 per tonne plus VAT, delivered locally within a 10-mile radius.
• Collection from Woodside Depot, Polegate Road, Hailsham, East Sussex, BN27 3PG.
• Collection Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm.
