ASPHALT RAKE HAND

As a rake hand you will be responsible for the laying of asphalt, Type 1 and environmentally friendlier road formation materials and aggregates .

Rake hands report directly to their foreman and will be expected to listen and carry out instructions. You must work safely in a busy environment and adhere to the requirements of the site at all times.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Ensure a smooth operation for the laying, finishing and tidying-up processes
  • Anticipate and stay on top of any problems before they happen
  • General housekeeping of vehicles and plant
  • Clean up the site once the day’s work is completed
  • Undertake preparation works, manual labour, digging, lifting and carrying, when required
  • Show a degree of flexibility within your working hours

Requirements:

  • An experienced rake hand with a minimum of 2 years’ experience laying asphalt surface course
  • Valid CSCS, CPCS or NPORS with CSCS logo card
  • Street Works Qualification (desirable)
  • Experience working on the highways (desirable)
  • Valid driving licence
  • Clear of alcohol and drugs when reporting for work (a regular testing programme is in place)
