As a Groundworks Surveyor, you will be responsible for conducting site surveys and assessments of our client’s construction sites. This is to ensure they are ready for our asphalt surfacing activities. You will  control the costs of our works once they are underway. You will work closely with clients, project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to provide essential information for the planning and execution of construction projects.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the preparation of the sub-contract/supplier enquiry lists for approval.
  • Preparation of RAMS
  • Site assessments – conducting thorough surveys and assessments of sites to determine conditions and any potential challenges including pre visit measures and dip surveys.
  • On site risk analysis using various surveying tools, equipment and software.
  • Working closely with estimators, project managers, engineers and other stakeholders to understand the project’s requirements and goals.
  • Provide input during the planning phase to ensure that groundworks are feasible and align with project specifications.
  • Stay informed about local regulations, standards and licensing requirements that may impact groundwork activities.
  • Documentation – prepare detailed survey reports, drawings and maps to communicate findings to project teams and maintain accurate records of survey data.

Key skills:

  • Experience in civil engineering/groundworks and surveying
  • Client relationship management
  • Have a working understanding of construction contracts e.g. JCT
  • Knowledge of construction regulations and standards
  • Proficiency in surveying tools and software
  • Strong analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in estimating software and tools
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Results-driven and motivated
  • Meticulous attention to detail

Qualifications & Experience

  • SSSTS / SMSTS desirable
  • 2-3 years experience in a similar role e.g. Site or Setting Out Engineer, Groundworks Site Manager
  • HNC / HND or degree level construction qualification desirable.
