Junior Fitter (Apprentice)

Are you a junior fitter or looking for an Apprenticeship? Do you have basic mechanic skills? Are you looking for an exciting new opportunity? 

The successful candidate will report to the Maintenance and Depot Management.

You will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance and repair of small plant and machinery.  You will work under the supervision of our Maintenance and engineers to ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and safely.  You will gain hands-on experience and develop skills in fitting, assembly and troubleshooting mechanical systems.  You will have the opportunity to continue working under an apprenticeship for this role as the position develops.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assisting in assembling components according to specifications
  • Supporting the team in performing routine inspections and preventative maintenance
  • Assisting in diagnosing mechanical issues and repairing equipment and small plant as directed
  • Assisting in maintaining an inventory of tools
  • Ensuring tools and equipment are stored properly and kept in good working condition
  • Following all safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment
  • Reporting any safety hazards or incidents to the supervisor immediately.

Key skills and person specification:

  • Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and components
  • The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools
  • Good problem solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Willingness to learn.
